On a cold Sunday morning at Polson Pier the 2007 U10 Wexford Dymonds boys faced off in an indoor exhibition game against the U10 Newmarket boys.
During the first half, the Wexford Dymonds were just trying to find their rhythm as they eased into the game. Within 10 minutes, a great press was delivered by Lucas Walkes as he found space down the middle of the field and drove the ball across the net to assist Ojin Najamaddin’s goal. Did I mention he was a righty who scored that goal with his left foot?
From then on the boys gained momentum as they had a slight edge over the U10 Newmarket team. Despite some phenomenal tackles on Newmarket’s defensive end, the Dymonds continued to fight and make attempts on goal, which brought them to the end of the first half. Special mention goes out to goalie Michael Konstantopolous for playing exceptionally well.
In a riveting half time speech, Coach Sibi really heated up the boys’ spirits as they returned to dominate the second half of the game scoring 6 goals. “We are going to go out there and score quickly. Once we do that, their body language will drop, their shoulders will hunch and we will continue to attack. We will then score another and another and show them that when you come to Wexford’s field, you’re going to be in for a rough time” as powerfully stated at half time by Coach Sibi. With a new found hunger to win, the atmosphere in Polson Pier was electrifying for both the players and the parents.
Special mention goes out to Arman Ibrahimi, the ‘silent assassin’ who carried the team’s momentum from second half to assist Joseph Kadavi in the second goal scored. Following that goal, Arman scored another beauty followed by another assist to Joseph who drove the ball right into the net.
Another exciting goal to watch was by Captain Dominic Aggabao who was assisted by Santino Dibueno. In a beautifully placed pass by Santino, Dominic mercilessly smashed the ball right into net truly defining the elite level of performance by the Wexford Dynamo Elite Athletics. More so, just as much as an offensive presence was there, Brandon Angrish really held it down defensively for the team. Winning each ball in his vicinity, he was a force to be reckoned with.
Just when you think the game is nearing the end, Ojin scores another goal followed by Santino finishing strong with the final goal leaving the final score 7-0 for Wexford Dymonds. Well done boys!
Stay tuned as the 2007 Wexford Dymonds face Oshawa in an exhibition game on Monday. Will the Dymonds dominate again?
